Through the Mission Committee and in various  projects by other committees and special offerings, the Church of Christ has always given generously to numerous missions andRelay for Life especially to emergency relief after storms, fires, other disasters, and after September 11, 2001.

Recently, however, the Mission Committee has begun to focus their work through one or two organizations, first to help with more significant financial support and/or to provide the congregation an opportunity to participate in mission projects. In their 2006 annual report the Mission Committee said,

"Our first work was with the Pine Street Inn. They are an organization which has helped the homeless in the local area for many years. We took the challenge to furnish an apartment which would provide a permanent home for a homeless person. With the support of Women’s Fellowship, we had a Pot Luck Supper Shower. Members of the church bought gifts needed from toilet items to lamps and blankets to supply the new apartment. We also gave $ 2000.00 to complete the new home."

"The second goal this year was to work with Habitat for Humanity. After research we chose to support Old Colony Habitat for Humanity. In November we sponsored the Stone Soup Luncheon. We actually built a house in church which symbolized our new project. Tom Warren from Old Colony spoke and suggested how we could help their organization build homes for those in need. In 2007, we will start more active support both in work hours and contributions to build the homes. We made a great start with a $100.00 contribution from the Stone Soup free will offering."

Other Mission activities include:

  • Support of the Millis Fund, which provides emergency assistance to town residents;

  • Support of the Millis Ecumenical Food Pantry

  • Participation in celebration of Mothers and Fathers onFood Pantry Sign Blanket Sunday in May and Tool Sunday in June; which benefit Church World Service

  • Offerings for The One Great Hour of Sharing and Neighbors in Need, which provide emergency relief and development projects worldwide;

  • The Sunday School and the Mission Committee together contributed 24 boxes to Operation Christmas Child, an organization which at Christmas time sends gift-filled shoe boxes to hurting children around the world.

  • Support to Willowbrook Manor Nursing Home in Millis.
