We are a member church of the United Church of Christ, the largest denomination in Massachusetts. We are located in Millis, MA, a town of about 8,000 that retains a great deal of its small town character, at the same time that increasing numbers of the residents are commuters to Boston and other cities. Our ministry is To proclaim the Gospel (Good News) of Jesus Christ, to assist persons into a relationship with God, and to celebrate God's love in worship and in everything we do. To maintain a ministry of Christian Education for children, youth, and adults. Programs include:
Sunday school classes for children in pre-school through 7th grade;
Communion instruction for third graders;
Confirmation class for youth in 8th, 9th, or 10th grades;
Two youth groups for young people in grades 4-6 and 7-10,
Summer Vacation Bible School (usually one week in July)
A variety of adults' classes and Bible Study that changes throughout the year.
To provide support and comfort to persons in times of need and personal crisis. We have a committed Visitors' Group and an active Prayer Chain and frequent outreach to members and others. To be present in the community, being a visible reminder of Christ's presence in the world.
If you are looking for a church home we invite you to get to know us. There are always opportunities to learn, develop deep and lasting friendships, and to share your gifts with others. We always welcome new people to participate in all of our activities, and we receive new members into the church once or twice a year.
Get involved! Come to church, of course, and enroll the kids in the Sunday School. Stay for the coffee hour, and introduce yourself, especially to the folk serving coffee, and in the kitchen. Watch the newsletter and the Sunday bulletins for announcements of activities that might interest you. All of the contact persons can be reached by calling the church office: 508 376-5034 during regular office hours, Monday–Friday, 9:30 am–2 pm.
Some of the possibilities are:
Join
the Choir or the
Bell choir: New voices and
new ringers are welcome all year round, and especially before the holiday
seasons at Christmas and Easter. There are also children’s choirs which vary
throughout the year in their activities. Contact: Myrna Rybczyk, Music
Director.
Help with Missions Projects: There are activities and
projects throughout the year, and especially at Christmas. New for 2006-2007
is an increased involvement with Habitat for Humanity.
Contact: any member of the Missions Committee, and for Christmas
Outreach: Ellen Bullion.
Volunteer in the Food Pantry:
Distribution is on Wednesday and
Saturday morning, and various other activities take place at many different
times during the week. Contact: Judy and Don Ackerman.
Help with Maintenance or Repairs around the church: The
Trustees’ responsibility of taking care of the buildings is enormous, and a
great deal of fellowship happens along the way! Contact: Kathy Stevens.
Teach or Assist in the Sunday School: sometimes teachers
are needed; assistants and subs are always welcome. Contact the Sunday
School Superintendent, 508 533-3828 or Tammy Coutts or Diane Goguen, Chairs
of Christian Education.
Women’s Fellowship: Open to all women in the church, this
group sponsors the annual Christmas Fair, and hosts social and missions
events throughout the year. Watch the newsletter and the Sunday bulletins
for frequent announcements. Contact: Linda Jones, or Melanie Steeves.
Quilting Group: meets every Monday morning starting at 9:30
a.m. in the Parlor. All kinds of needlework, and conversation.

Bible Study: Opportunities
for Bible Study and Adult study vary during the year. Please contact the
church office or speak with the minister for more information.
Our Newest Addition: in
September, 2006, the church hired the Rev. Sheri Anderson to lead
Two new Youth Groups. We have
welcomed her with joy, and both groups are off to a splendid start.
And, (though we do not expect new members to help
run the church right away) we elect new committee members in January.
Especially if you have relevant church experience or professional expertise,
please speak with one of the following to volunteer—Ellie Vine, Chair of the
Nominating Committee or Paul Rice, Moderator.
The work of all of the major boards and committees is described in the
annual reports of the church, also available from the church office.
Welcome!
